Q3) My spouse will be coming to the U.S. with me. How can she/he also obtain an admission into an ESL, Undergraduate or Graduate program?

When sending SACM your documents, you must indicate if your spouse or mahram is also applying and include their documents as outlined in answers No:1 and No:2
A student can apply for a scholarship for his/her spouse if they meet certain criteria. If a spouse comes to the U.S. on an F-1 visa, the admissions department can apply for him/her. If the spouse is an F-2 dependent, then she/he may attend a conversational English language program part- time. The student is not permitted to study towards an academic degree or in preparation for one. For more information visit:
Scholarship Information

Q4) I am a non-scholarship or self-sponsored student. Can the SACM Admissions Department apply for me or issue me a financial guarantee for admissions purposes only?

No. The Admissions Department can neither apply nor issue a financial guarantee letter for non-sponsored or self-sponsored students due to concerns about legality and immigration issues.

Q5) How do I apply for a Government Scholarship?

Please visit : Self Sponsored Students for more information. For further questions of concerns, contact the Private Sponsored Students Department at
(202)-298-8838 or by email at sorini@sacm.org

Q6) I am on a scholarship and am studying ESL in the U.S. How do I apply for academic admission?

See the above procedures for both Graduate and Undergraduate academic applications.

Q7) I know it is unacceptable to change English Language Programs (ESL), however, under special circumstances how would I go about requesting such a change?

After contacting your SACM academic advisor, he/she will forward your request to the Admissions department via E-government for assessment. The Admissions department will then transmit the decision back to the students advisor.
Please refer to the following link for the complete English Language Program (ESL) transfer guidelines. English Language Program Transfers

Q8) I am studying in Canada, for example, and I want to transfer to a U.S. university. What should I do?

Contact the Saudi Arabian Education/Cultural Mission in the country you are currently studying in and have them address this request directly to the Cultural Attache to the U.S.

Q9) How can I change my major?

Please contact your respective SACM academic advisor for assistance in changing your major.

Q10) How do I know if a university is approved by MOHE?

For a complete list of the universities that are approved by the Ministry of Higher Education, please visit:
Ministry of Higher Education

Q11) I have both sent my documents to the SACM admissions department and have self-applied to a school. Can my SACM coordinator send a financial guarantee for admission purposes only to the school to which I self-applied on my behalf, as well as to the schools they applied me to?

Yes, depending on the circumstances and with the permission of the Director of Admissions. The applicant must be a student who already has a file with the Admissions Department.

Q12) What should I do if the application can be only completed online?

Complete the application online and send the confirmation page to your admissions coordinator. He/she will then issue you a financial guarantee and send documents to that school. Please note that your SACM academic advisor will reimburse you for the application fee if it is an approved program or school.

Q13) I have not gotten an acceptance yet. What should I do?

Your admissions coordinator will review your file. Please keep in mind that we will be better able to assist you if you are willing to be flexible with location and willing to have us find schools that we feel best fit your needs and abilities. In addition, we encourage you to take the TOFEL, GRE, GMAT and other required tests because they will speed up the admission process. (If you have test scores, be sure to send us your scores right away.) Please be patient. It just takes time for schools to review your file and send us their decision, especially graduate applications.

Q14) I just received conditional admissions from a university. What do I do now?

If your file is with the Admissions Department, please send a copy of your admissions letter to your SACM admissions coordinator.

Q15) I do not write English very well. Can I have a template for the Statement of Purpose?

No, please write as much as you can. The Statement of Purpose has to be completed by the student and signed by the student.

Q16) Can I request that I be applied to schools in a certain state or region?

If you must, though we encourage you not to, please indicate your desired area. If it is overcrowded or does not have an appropriate school, we will not be able to accommodate this request.
