Research Positions at the Center for Complex Engineering Systems

About The Center for Complex Systems Engineering

The Center for Complex Engineering Systems (CCES) is a new research collaboration between The King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and the Engineering Systems Division (ESD) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

 

The goal of the center is to improve our understanding of large scale complex systems and to jointly conduct world-class, collaborative, and inter-disciplinary research in engineering, technology, and social phenomena at multiple scales. The center will be located in state-of-the-art facilities both in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and on the MIT campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts. KACST and MIT will be linked through the Collaborative Design Laboratory (CDL) using the latest in virtual presence technology.

 

About the Position


CCES is offering research positions in Riyadh for highly talented Saudi Arabian nationals holding Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degrees in multiple disciplines such as: applied mathematics, physics, statistics, computer science, operations research, urban planning and economics as well as all various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, chemical, civil, and systems.

KACST-CCES researchers are expected to travel and spend some time at MIT in the USA. Researchers will receive full KACST employee salaries and benefits and are entitled to funding for Masters, PhD, or Postdoctoral studies if they are granted acceptance into an accredited university.

 

Researchers responsibilities will include:

  • Data collection and analysis.y
  • Performing applied research.
  • Creating new and extending existing models, theories, and methods.
  • Prepare and write research papers targeted for top tier conferences and journals.

Experience or interest in one of the following fields is considered a plus but is not required: mathematical modeling, GIS, data fusion, data visualization, data mining, and computer graphics.
