Dr. Aleissa: 6 thousands scholars will come to study in the USA at the beginning of the next year
Dr. Mohamed Aleissa
The cultural attaché in the USA, Dr. Mohamed Aleissa emphasized that 6,000 of the Saudi scholars will go to the USA at the beginning of the next year to study under the Foreign Scholarship Program of the custodian of the Two Mosques. This Program was extended by 5 years. The attaché added that the Cultural Mission began by completing what the Office of Bridging the Thought has started by bringing acceptances which are sending to the Ministry to be delivered to the ambassadors during the meetings held these days by the Ministry of Higher Education. He said to “Al Madina/ The City”: "The wise vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to adopt the Foreign Scholarship Program and its extension for another 5 years will greatly contribute to prepare the future generations to participate in the development of our country and work under his wise leadership". He also added that the Cultural Mission is the communication bridge between many parties which sent their employees and students who got scholarships from the kingdom and also between the universities and the educational institutions where they study in the USA. He emphasized that the role of the cultural mission is not only supervising/overseeing the scholars academically but aiming to make them truly representing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in both cultural and scientific fields.
He said that in fact, our scholars are ambassadors of their country and are cultural and civilization symbols. They have a real and constructive role to achieve communication with the community and understanding their categories. The principal role of the Cultural Mission becomes focusing on that and dealing with scholars as cultural symbols who represent us abroad. He pointed out that the number of the ambassadors, in the sixth stage of the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Scholarship Program, that have arrived to the USA is 6,000 ambassadors, and thus the total number of ambassadors who are studying in the USA is 38,000 ambassadors. The Cultural Attaché clarified that the ambassadors of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are studying in the best and oldest American universities, as the Ministry of Higher Education strives to allow our ambassadors receiving the best science in the best educational environment. He indicated that all the universities recommended by the Ministry of Higher Education and the institutes that are nominated to the ambassadors have a high academic level with great experience.
Regarding the scholars’ fears that the Cultural Mission may not change the institutes already accepted them. Mr. Aleissa confirmed that the Saudi Cultural Mission in Washington DC did and will never stand in the face of the interest of any scholar. He pointed out that the bulk of their work and its core is looking for the interest of the scholar and assisting him to achieve his desired goal from the Program. He emphasized that once the scholar arrived to the Cultural Mission in Washington, he could change his school in only 1 hour if he wants to. The Attaché explained that the cost of space, the security, the students overcrowding and their relatives catalyst this change. Mr. Aleissa emphasized that the beginning of 2011 will see the arrival of the first batch of the scholars related to the sixth stage of the Program. In conclusion of his speech for “Al Madina”, he asked the scholars of this sixth edition to be the best students and the best ambassadors representing their country by showing its real face and contribute to the achievement of mutual understanding and constructive communication between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United State of America.
